De forme rectangulaire, le couvercle à charnière composé de sept panneaux et d'une poignée décorée de feuilles d'acanthe, le corps composé de six panneaux, reposant sur quatre pieds en forme de caryatide, les scènes en émail dépeignant des putti s'ébattant, avec d'abondantes inscriptions dorées en patois limousin ; la serrure dissimulée par un buste de femme amovible; légers accidents, manques et réparations

The hinged lid with seven panels and acanthus-decorated handle and the body with six panels on four female caryatid feet; the enamel scenes painted with putti cavorting and inscribed extensively in gilt lettering Limousin dialect, the lock concealed by a movable female bust; minor damages, losses and repairs

This casket is one of a number of caskets seemingly from the same workshop which have traditionally been attributed to the enameller Couly Nouailher. However, in her recent publication Sophie Baratte (loc. cit.) dismisses this idea as having been based on flawed evidence, without proposing a possible alternative for authorship.

Ce coffret est un des nombreux exemples provenant apparemment d'un même atelier, traditionnellement attribués à l'émailleur Couly Nouailher. Cependant, dans son dernier ouvrage (loc. cit.), Sophie Baratte, écarte cette hypothèse comme ayant été fondée sur des faits et bases inexactes, sans pour autant proposer une attribution alternative.
