10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary: 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale
Sale Overview
In the 10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary: 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale, Christie's 20th/21st Century Art is proud to present a group of tightly curated works by leading modern and contemporary artists from around the world. Bridging the East and the West, the canonical and the ground-breaking, the selection creates powerful dialogues traversing time and borders to celebrate Christie's pioneering history in mainland China. The evening sale is led by the iconic and fresh-to-the-market work Tête d'homme by Pablo Picasso. Masterpieces by modern masters Wu Dayu and Zao Wou-ki are joined by signature works by contemporary luminaires Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara. Ding Yi, Liu Wei and Zhang Zipiao forms a refreshing line-up that epitomizes the new vision of Chinese contemporary art, while Shara Hughes and María Berrío continue to reinvigorate Western painting traditions and methods.
Also be excited to present an autograph manuscript by the renowned scientist Albert Einstein in this dynamically curated Evening Sale. This marks the auction debut for this rare manuscript at Christie's Asia and represents the Classic Art category's inaugural appearance in mainland China.
