20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale

Sale Overview
The 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale at Christie’s spans 150 years of art-making, offering a rich survey of Impressionist, modern and contemporary masterworks. The auction celebrates some of the period’s most significant movements and artists, including Lucian Freud’s Girl with Closed Eyes, which has been held in the same collection since its creation, Francis Bacon’s extraordinary meditation on the passage of time Triptych 1986-7 and Franz Marc’s The Foxes, an exceptional masterpiece of German Expressionism.
The sale offers other important works by Giacometti, Macke and Pechstein, alongside rare early paintings by Riley and Dubuffet. Picasso’s influence on Hockney is presented in works by both artists, including the latter’s monumental David Graves in a Harlequin Shirt (1982). Meanwhile, portraits by Schiele and Renoir speak to 21st century reflections on the genre by Boafo, Samson and Clottey, which take their place within the sale’s strong selection of international contemporary art.
Coinciding with Women’s History Month, we are also offering Woman #5672, an NFT minted in 2021 from WORLD OF WOMEN.
