From Impressionism to Pop Art, this November’s 20th Century Evening sale takes viewers through all the major movements of modern and post-war art. The sale boasts best-in-class examples by radical pioneers Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh; avant-garde mainstays, such as Pablo Picasso and Frida Kahlo; Surrealist iconoclasts Rene Magritte and Francis Picabia; leaders of Abstract Expressionism, including Mark Rothko and Joan Mitchell; and post-war visionaries Andy Warhol and Wayne Thiebaud. Championing the vital bridges between the modern and post-war era, including Arshile Gorky and Richard Diebenkorn, the sale also proudly presents the ground-breaking sculpture of Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Jean Dubuffet. Led by Monet’s rediscovered masterpiece, Le bassin aux nympheas, and Francis Bacon’s illustrious Figure in Motion, the season is also represented by several highly esteemed and important collections, including Ivan & Genevieve Reitman: A Life in Pictures, The Collection of Jerry Moss, Heirs of Fritz Grünbaum, Property from the Collection of David Geffen, Museum Langmatt and A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection.
