American Art

Sale Overview

Our November 20th American Art auction features an outstanding selection of works ranging from the Hudson River School and art of the American West to Illustration and American Modernism. Highlights of the sale include Georgia O’Keeffe’s stunning 1926 painting The Red Maple at Lake George and her 1953-55 minimalist exploration of Southwestern architecture, Black Door with Snow. Works by nineteenth-century American masters, including Frederic Edwin Church and John Frederick Kensett, are being offered from the Collection of Kevin and Barrie Landry, and a celebration of American patriotism by Theodore Earl Butler leads the selection of works from the Estate of Danny Wiginton. The sale also includes illustrations by Maxfield Parrish and Norman Rockwell, sculpture by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Frederic Remington, and Western paintings by Henry Farny and Albert Bierstadt.

The auction will be exhibited in our Rockefeller Center galleries in New York from November 17-19.
