Ansel Adams and the American West: Photographs from the Center for Creative Photography

Sale Overview

The Christie’s Photographs department is proud to present a spotlight sale on Ansel Adams, one of the most renowned and beloved 20th century photographers. Sold in association with Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona, Tucson (CCP) — an invaluable institution of which Adams was a founding member — Christie’s New York will offer a total of 150 fresh-to-market photographs in one live sale this December followed by two online sales in 2020.

Ansel Adams captured the American landscape in an unforgettable manner and out of a deep love of nature, he illuminated the details and grandeur of wide-open vistas of sites like Yosemite, the California coast, New Mexico and Wyoming. His lifelong work left its mark on American culture for generations to come. Offered at accessible price points, we encourage you to take home a piece of history — all proceeds go to establish an acquisition fund for CCP.

The preview exhibition opens 6 December in our galleries at Rockefeller Center.
