Art Contemporain

Sale Overview

Promising to be one of the greatest ever organised by the department, this sale is characterised by works with exceptional provenance. Francis Bacon’s Painting March 1985 was offered by the artist to Jacques Dupin as a mark of their friendship and out of gratitude for the prefaces he had contributed, and it remained in the collection of the poet, art critic and art dealer until today. A group of works from the collection of Rodolphe Stadler which reflect the independence and taste of the man who was a genuine talent scout when seeking works for his gallery on rue de Seine, will also be offered at auction. Further highlights include major works by international artists such as Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol and Joan Mitchell, as well as some of the most renowned figures of the School of Paris.
