Sale Overview

FIRST OPEN/LDN on 26 March at Christie's, South Kensington will feature a carefully curated selection of Post-War and Contemporary Art. The auction has a truly global focus with a group of five striking artworks from an important private Asian collection, including works by Lee Ufan and Yayoi Kusama. Further highlights include works by Zero group founder Otto Piene, pieces by major Post-War American artists, such as Andy Warhol, Sturtevant and Alexander Calder, as well as cutting edge works by Still House Group artists, Storm Tharp, Ida Ekblad, and other up and coming names. FIRST OPEN/LDN has also launched the first crowd-sourced auction initiative in collaboration with innovative social media platform, ArtStack. Eight artworks were selected for sale by a high profile panel of judges, following an online competition on ArtStack in which works could be submitted and voted for by the public. 25% of the proceeds raised from the sale of the eight artworks will be donated to the Whitechapel Gallery, whose programme has long championed emerging artists.
