Jason Carey, Associate Director, Head of Impressionist and Modern Day Sale: “The notable diversity of the current market’s taste was evident in this sale, with strong demand for traditional Impressionism and German Expressionism through to 20th century Modernism and beyond. The auction also highlighted that international collectors at this level are now celebrating works by artists who were previously less well known (lot 401) or more regionally appreciated (lot 466), reflecting the continuing growth and energy of the market. We now look forward to the South Kensington sale on 8 February.”
