Oeuvres modernes sur papier

Sale Overview

Our 2017 Modern Works on Paper sale promises to be the most important in its five-year history. Comprising over 140 lots and with a global low estimate of over €5,000,000, the sale features works from several prestigious private collections, including 15 works on paper by Marc Chagall from a private collection; a selection of works by Pablo Picasso from the estate of Edouard Pignon; and a panorama of works from American collectors Evelyn and Jerome Oremland. Among the sale’s top lots are Camille Pissarro’s magnificent Paysannes au repos, a distemper-on-paper work executed in 1883; a large charcoal on blue paper by Edgar Degas called La Danseuse au bouquet; and an important drawing by Balthus from the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
