Fine Chinese Modern Paintings

Christie's Hong Kong is pleased to present its Fine Chinese Modern Paintings on November 26th, 2019. Presenting collectors with an array of exquisite works sourced from prestigious private collections worldwide.

This year’s sale coincides with the 120th anniversary of Zhang Daqian’s and 100th anniversary of Wu Guanzhong’s birth. In order to commemorate these special occasions, Christie’s will present an exquisite six-foot work by Zhang Daqian, titled Retreat in the Bamboo Grove, which showcases the artist’s monumental splashed-ink technique. This sale will also display a number of Zhang’s early-career works, including Goddess Scattering Flowers (1933), Gorges of Sichuan (1939) and many more. Christie’s is also pleased to present superb works by Wu Guanzhong, including The Grand Canyon (1989) and Tsim Sha Tsui (1990).

Finally, this auction will also see works by modernist Lin Fengmian, Xu Beihong’s Nanyang period, and Huang Junbi’s family collection. We sincerely invite you to visit the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 22nd to 25th to view the exquisite works on view.
