The Masterpiece Auction (23 Nov) / Important Watches including an Important Private Asian Collection Part One (27 Nov)
Sale Overview
On 27 November, Christie’s will offer a curated selection of 240 extraordinary watches, highlighted by A One-Of-A-Kind Patek Philippe ref. 2523 retailed by Gobbi in Milan and also known as “L’Heure Bleue”, which will be sold on 23 November in “The Master Piece” auction. Made in 1953 and sold in April 1957 to Patek Philippe’s distinguished retailer Gobbi in Milan, this reference 2523 is part of an exceedingly small series of dual crown world time wristwatches (estimate: HKD 55,000,000-110,000,000). It is thought that only seven reference 2523 dual-crown world time wristwatches in pink gold were ever made. Unique amongst this already rarefied model, it is the only known example of reference 2523 to be double signed with both Patek Philippe’s signature and that of the prestigious Milan retailer Gobbi.
Further leading lots of the sale include modern and vintage timepieces from the leading watchmakers, such as a Patek Philippe Ref. 6002 (estimate: HK$12,000,000-24,000,000), and a white ceramic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak perpetual calendar model (estimate: HK$1,200,000-2,200,000). An 18k Pink Gold Semi-Skeletonised 30° Inclined Double Tourbillon Wristwatch by Greubel Forsey (estimate:HK$1,450,000- 1,900,000), will also be offered. The timepieces will be on display at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 22 to 26 November 2019.
