Christie’s Art d’Asie auction in Paris features a curated selection of works from private European and Asian collections spanning more than 3000 years of Chinese art. The sale showcases important Buddhist art, archaic bronzes, Song ceramics, imperial Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain, jade carvings, cloisonné enamels, lacquer, huanghuali furniture, carpets, textiles and classical and modern Chinese paintings. Highlights include a magnificent gilt-bronze figure of Marichi dating to the Kangxi period (1662-1722) from an Important French Private Collection; a rare 15th century cloisonné enamel box and cover from the collection of Robert Rousset (1901-1982); an exquisite ruby-ground falangcai bowl, Yongzheng mark and period (1723-35); a finely-carved Yaozhou bowl from the Northern Song-Jin Dynasty (960-1234); an archaic bronze ritual wine vessel, zun, from the Late Shang – Early Western Zhou Dynasty (12th-10th century) and an embroidered apricot-yellow silk ‘dragon robe’ for an imperial consort, Xianfeng period (1851-61), from a private European collection of textiles.
