Sale Overview

Christie’s forthcoming Antiquities sale will be offering a wide-ranging selection of artefacts from the ancient world, spanning from Ancient Egypt to the Roman Empire. The sale will include fine Egyptian bronzes once in the renowned Resandro Collection, first offered at Christie’s in 2016. The sale also features a number of ancient vases, from the earliest Bronze Age examples of the Cycladic Culture, to the finest Attic production decorated in the black figures and red figures techniques.

The selection of Greek and Roman marble statues is led by an impressive Republican portrait bust of a private individual in the ‘fashion’ of Julius Caesar, from the prestigious Bührle collection in Zurich. Other highlights include an elegant Roman torso of a youth from the collection of the late Monty and Barbie Passes, and a striking portrait head of the Emperor Titus from the Anton Pestalozzi collection.

With estimates starting from £1,500 this online sale represents a unique opportunity to acquire a work of art from one of the ancient cultures that have shaped the history of western art until today.
