Sale Overview
Christie’s upcoming Outsider Art auction features masterpieces by the category’s top artists as well as significant works by up-and-coming names in the field. The sale includes drawings and sculptures from iconic figures including Henry Darger, Bill Traylor, and Martin Ramirez, as well as a selection of remarkable works by European artists such as Augustin Lesage, Adolf Wolfli, and Carlo Zinelli. Pieces by top American artists in the category, including Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, David Butler, James Castle, Sam Doyle, William Hawkins, Clementine Hunter, Sister Gertrude Morgan, Nellie Mae Rowe and Joseph Yoakum round out this diverse and exciting sale.
This auction includes the Collection of William A. Fagaly, sold to benefit Prospect New Orleans’ William A. Fagaly Memorial Fund for Social Impact, selections from the William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation, sold to benefit the Foundation and the Harlem Children’s Zone, the Judy and Gene Kohn Collection of Outsider Art, and other properties from esteemed private collections.
