On June 1st, Christie's Paris will be offering an exceptional selection of 20th and 21st century works in its Design sale. More than 140 works by prestigious artists such as Diego Giacometti, Jean Prouvé, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne will be presented. This sale will present three important private collections ; two of them explore the different possibilities of the medium of ceramic. One collection features  exceptional pieces by André Borderie and the other focuses on the creation of La Borne ceramists. A third collection will unveil a selection of work by Jean Prouvé, coming from the collection of the Dollander family. In addition, the sale will also pay tribute to the extraordinary relationship between artists and wood, from historical craftsmanship to revolutionary techniques and astonishing trompe-l’oeil with a selection of works by Gerrit Rietveld and Jeroen Verhoeven among others. This auction will also include an exceptional panel by Jean Dunand, masterworks by the Giacometti brothers, comprising a striking pair of floor lamps from the Romain Gary and Jean Seberg collection and a great set of four stone sheep by François-Xavier Lalanne.

Ce 1er juin, Christie's Paris proposera une sélection exceptionnelle d'œuvres du XXe et XXIe siècle dans sa vente Design. Seront présentées près de 150 réalisations d’artistes prestigieux tels Diego Giacometti, Jean Prouvé, Claude et François-Xavier Lalanne. Cette vacation sera l’occasion de disperser trois collections ; deux explorant les différentes possibilités plastiques de la céramique, l'une centrée sur des pièces d'exception d'André Borderie, l’autre sur les créations des céramistes de La Borne. Un troisième ensemble présentera plusieurs réalisations inédites de Jean Prouvé, jusqu’alors conservées dans les collections de la famille Dollander.  Enfin, la vente rendra hommage à l'extraordinaire travail du bois par les artistes du Design et de l’art contemporain, de l'artisanat historique aux techniques révolutionnaires avec une sélection comprenant des œuvres d’Agustín Cárdenas ou encore Jeroen Verhoeven. Cette vente présentera également un exceptionnel panneau de Jean Dunand, des œuvres importantes des frères Giacometti, dont une remarquable paire de lampadaires de la collection Romain Gary et Jean Seberg ainsi qu’un bel ensemble de quatre moutons en pierre de François-Xavier Lalanne.
