First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online

Sale Overview

This season, First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online presents an exciting and diverse array of international Post-War and Contemporary art and photography at accessible price points as part of the London to Paris sale week at Christie’s.

We are proud to collaborate with Art for Tropical Forests, a charity set up by visionary art dealer Ernst Beyeler in 2002, combining passion for art and dedication to the protection and conservation of tropical forests worldwide. Christie’s is delighted to support the humanitarian ethos of Art for Tropical Forests with a selection of contemporary works by Andreas Gursky, Beatriz Milhazes, Bosco Sodi, Sabine Moritz, Thilo Heinzmann and Wade Guyton, generously donated by the artists and galleries. Proceeds from the sale of these lots will be used to strengthen Art for Tropical Forests’ diverse programming which includes habitat preservation, reforestation, forestry stewardship, and the strengthening of local communities.

Figurative painting is highlighted with works by Caroline Walker, Karen Kilimnik and Guy Yanai and the sale continues its tradition of strong representation of works by some of the most exciting contemporary African artists with over twenty works offered by artists from Africa and the African Diaspora. Highlights include works by Aboudia, Isshaq Ismail, Matthew Eguavoen, Prince Gyasi, Michael Armitage, John Madu, Abe Odedina, and Raphael Adjetey Adjei Mayne.

A selection of highlights will be available to view at Christie's King Street from 22 June. For any viewing requests please contact Isabel Millar on imillar@christies.com

This sale is part of the 20/21 London to Paris sale series.
