Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours
Sale Overview
Old Masters Part II returns this December with something for every collector. The sale will offer an even greater variety of media than previous seasons, with paintings, drawings, watercolours and sculpture hailing from all the major European Schools and at a broad range of price points, with a number of lots to be sold without reserve.
The highlight of the sale is an arresting portrait of Sultan Ahmed III (1673–1736), painted by an artist working in the circle of Jean-Baptiste Vanmour. Following in the footsteps of Part I with its extraordinary Canaletto pair, the Part II sale also features an exquisite pair of Venetian paintings: The Angel appearing to Hagar and Ishmael; and The Sacrifice of Isaac, by Giambattista Pittoni.
