The Collector: Paris

The Collector: Paris

Sale Overview

This October, The Collector returns to Christie’s London, New York and Paris as the international platform for connoisseurs and collectors of Decorative Arts. The sales are brought to you as a three-part series, with all lots opening for bidding on 13 October and closing consecutively by sale location on 31 October, 1 November, and 3 November. The Collector includes important European, English and 19th-century furniture, porcelain, silver, gold boxes and works of art dating from the 16th to the 20th century, all of which highlight the enduring craftsmanship and beauty of exceptional works of art.

Christie’s is honoured to present six pairs of Coronation chairs commissioned by His Majesty The King for The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla at the Abbey Church of Westminster on 6 May 2023. Two pairs will be offered at each sale site.

In Paris, The Collector brings together works of art that illustrate centuries of artistic creation and features a curated selection of objects and furniture from French and European private collections, with a particular focus on 18th-century France. Some important artisans of the 19th century, such as François Linke, Sormani and Maison Giroux, are represented alongside the greatest menuisiers of the 18th century: Jean-Baptiste Boulard, Louis Delanois and Georges Jacob. This season also showcases works with exceptional provenance, including an elegant imperial pair of ployants stools from le Palais des Tuileries, an armchair made for the Duc des Deux-ponts and a chair from the Château de Saint-Cloud.
