On 20 October, Christie’s will present a dedicated Evening Sale of works from The Ann and Gordon Getty Collection. This sale will be the first in a series of four landmark live auctions devoted to this outstanding collection this fall. Proceeds from all sales will benefit the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation for the Arts, pledged to the support of arts and science organisations.
Together, Ann and Gordon Getty built one of the most important and diverse collections of fine and decorative arts in American history. The Evening Sale showcases the cornerstone works from this rich and varied collection. Old Masters, Nineteenth Century and Impressionist Drawings and Paintings, including works by Canaletto, Fragonard, Liotard, Blanche, Monet, Cassatt, Manet, and Matisse are presented in concert with masterpieces of English and European furniture by Vile, Chippendale and Grendey. Further highlights include sculpture by Clodion, porcelain by Sèvres, important Chinese works of art and and 20th Century Design, including masterpieces by Tiffany.
