As part of our 20th/21st Century auction series, Christie’s is delighted to present Impressionist and Modern Art Day and Works on Paper sale on 3 March 2023. Encompassing an exciting and diverse array of works across media, this auction represents ground-breaking Impressionists, such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Alfred Sisley, alongside Modern masters who defined the critical movements of the early 20th Century, from Gustav Klimt to Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Joan Miró.

Further highlights this season include important works by Italian masters Giorgio Morandi, Gino Severini and Marino Marini, as well as an exceptional group of modern sculpture with important and rare bronze casts by Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin. Following on from the Art of the Surreal Evening auction, the Impressionist & Modern Art Day and Works on Paper Sale also includes very strong representation of works by Surrealist artists, including Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, René Magritte and others. Expressionism too also features prominently, with important works by Max Pechstein, Max Beckmann, Gabriele Münter, Alexej von Jawlensky and Otto Mueller.
