From 31 March until 13 April, Christie’s is proud to offer our spring Photographs auction in New York. Featuring 20th century pioneers of the medium such as Ansel Adams, William Eggleston, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Mapplethorpe and Peter Beard, the sale extends to showcase the contemporary perspectives of Candida Hofer, Richard Misrach, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Wolfgang Tillmans and John Chiara. Among the prestigious collections included in this season’s auction is a dynamic group of portraiture, The Attentive Gaze: Photographs from a Private Collection, which includes works by Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Sally Mann, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, among others. Additionally, one of the early 20th century highlights of the auction is a complete set of Alfred Stieglitz’s groundbreaking photographic journal, Camera Work. As market leaders of the category, Christie’s spring Photographs auction offers opportunities for every type of collector to acquire a photograph of the highest quality and historical significance.
The sale is open for bidding online from 31 March – 13 April and all lots will be on view at Rockefeller Center from 31 March – 5 April.
