Sale Overview
This season, Christie’s Hong Kong is honoured to present 21 fresh-to-the-market Modern and Classical works from the Liu Jing Xiu Tang Collection, one of the most illustrious private collections of Chinese paintings that we first offered a part of them in May 2013. The Classical highlight from this collection is Emperor Qianlong’s Replanted Wutong Studio, a magnificent painting with a total of 19 poems composed and inscribed by the Emperor. Another fresh-to-the-market masterpiece is Shitao’s Yellow Peonies, from a private collection. Other extraordinary works include Narcissus and Calligraphy by Chen Chun, Cursive Script Calligraphy by Zhu Yunming and Grapevine by Bada Shanren.
With a very strong and spectacular line-up of Classical paintings and calligraphy from the 8th through the 19th centuries, this meticulously curated sale will take place on 2 December 2023, the last day of the autumn auctions series.
