Sale Overview
On 7 December, Christie’s New York will showcase exceptional design from 1900 to today in our biannual Design auction. Led by Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé’s illuminated library table designed for la Maison de l’Etudiant, our richly expansive sale with over 140 lots ranges from early examples of American Craft by Greene & Greene and Frank Lloyd Wright to turn-of-the-century Viennese works by Josef Hoffmann and iconic post-war designs by Jean Royère. Les Lalanne display their signature poetic art in nature-inspired sculptures, such as François-Xavier Lalanne’s ‘Poisson Paysage’ and Claude Lalanne’s ‘Fauteuil Singerie’, while Diego Giacometti further blurs the line between sculpture and furniture with his ‘Berceau table, modèle aux chats’ from the Property from the Estate of Michael A. Mennello, among other works. Rounding out our sale this season are the esteemed works from The Jerry Moss Collection which offer rare and significant examples of French Art Deco from Jean Dunand, Albert Cheuret and more.
