Carina Villinger, Head of Department, comments:
“Enthusiastic bidding and strong international participation proved the market is vibrant for 20th Century decorative art and design. We are delighted by the world auction record for a work of furniture by Isamu Noguchi for The Dretzin Table at $2.9 million – the third highest price for the artist – as well as the world auction record for a collaborative work by Charles and Ray Eames for the exquisite plywood sculpture, which sold for $458,500. The Tiffany market remains solid and top prices were achieved for rare examples, led by the Wisteria lamp from the Collection of Henry Africa, which sold for $602,500.”
