Art Impressionniste et Moderne

Sale Overview

This sale will offer several fine works by Pablo Picasso: Verre et Pichet, a still life that was gifted by the artist to the famous couple of ceramicists Georges and Suzanne Ramié and has remained in their family ever since; Femme debout, a large full-length portrait of Jacqueline Rocque, his second wife, as well as a lively work on paper, Tête d’homme à la pipe. The sale of six works from the former collection of Georges Renand, the former director of the Samaritaine, will be another highlight of the auction. The top lot of this group is a landscape, a brilliant tribute to nature, by Felix Vallotton, whose work is currently celebrated in the exhibition at the Grand Palais. The sale will also feature several important sculptures, including Tête de jeune fille by Henri Laurens illustrating his return to the human figure after years of Cubist exploration, and a plaster version of the celebrated Fugit Amor by Auguste Rodin from the former collection of Eugène Rehns, which has remained in the same family since the beginning of the 20th century.
