Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale Session II
Sale Overview
Saara Pritchard, Head of Day Sale (Part I) declared: “With strong prices for works by living artists, The contemporary session I day sale demonstrated the growing depth in the market with new record prices set for Carolee Schneemann (lot 127) at $317,000 and Cheyney Thompson (lot 127) at $317,000. We saw strong bidding, with almost half of the sold lots hammered above the high estimate and new buyers in this category at record price points. Strength in the day sales represents a broad middle market demonstrating confidence from both sellers and buyers: the availability of quality works at many price points that are chased from buyers across the globe only re-affirms the sky-high prices of the record setting evening sales this week.”
