Art impressionniste et moderne

Christie’s presents a fine selection of paintings and sculptures by the greatest masters of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. The sale features a strong section of landscapes, a genre at which painters of this period excelled: from the superb Vue d’un port by Monet and Boudin’s exquisite view of Venice to Paysage, an important work by Renoir. Paris nightlife, another central theme of works of this period, is celebrated in Toulouse-Lautrec’s accomplished study for his masterpiece Le Moulin de la Galette which is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. Several beautiful sculptures by Rodin are also offered including the rare and important bronze Buste de Saint-Jean Baptiste, étude sur socle carré, variante, that was cast between 1880 and 1890.
