Chinese Export Art Featuring the Tibor Collection, Part II

Sale Overview

The January 2020 Chinese Export Art sale presents a carefully vetted range of porcelain and paintings made for the great commerce between China and the West in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The sale is led by a rich assortment from the magnificent Tibor Collection, including birds, animals and figures as well as Hispanic market pieces and large, striking tibores. The variety on offer throughout the sale includes blue and white, famille verte, famille rose (including eggshell porcelain), armorial pieces and rare European subjects. Other private collections represented are the well-known Eckenhoff Collection of mugs and a private New York collection of ‘Pronk’ porcelain. China Trade paintings include a group of charming reverse-paintings on mirror and a rare pair of oil portraits of Commissioner Qiying and his consort.
