This December, Christie’s Design department presents two auctions: Design and Masterpieces in Glass: The Nakamoto Collection. Highlights from the Design sale include an exceptional Tiffany Studios ‘Pond Lily’ lamp. A lamp of this caliber has not been seen on the market in 20 years. An exceedingly rare form with an elaborate and rich glass selection, this lamp is one of Tiffany’s most impressive designs. Also highlighted in this sale are two spectacular Femmes Ailées bronze sculptures by René Lalique from the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle, a rare urn by Frank Lloyd Wright and works by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne. The Nakamoto Collection features museum-quality French art glass from the beginning of the 20th century with masterworks by Emile Gallé, Daum and Argy-Rousseau.
