Sale Overview

The Design Evening Sale will present a selection of 65 lots, including furniture by Paul Dupré-Lafon: a secrétaire and stool and a pair of bedside tables, all from the same commission dating from 1952, as well as an elegant patinated and gilt wrought-iron dining table with marble and travertine top. Iconic 1950s design is represented by pieces from original collections, such as two sideboards and a bookcase by Charlotte Perriand commissioned in 1954 and a ‘forme libre’ dining table which belonged to the architect Jean-Pierre Soria. Pieces by Claude Lalanne, Line Vautrin and a poetic screen by Salvador Dalí complete this section.

Part of the collection of Dennis Hotz, director of Art Review, will also be sold. One of the top lots of this section is a desk by Charlotte Perriand designed for a study on Rue Las Cases created with Georges Blanchon. Conceived in 1939, the model is now kept in the collection of the Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.
