Christie's Hong Kong is pleased to present its Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy autumn auction on November 25th, 2019. Presenting significant works of historical, aesthetic and cultural value, this season’s top lot is Shen Zhou’s Landscapes Dedicated to Zhu Xingfu, which was part of veteran collector Mr. Chen Rentao’s King Kwei Collection. Another highlight in this sale is Dr. S.Y. Yip’s Anthology of Ink: Ancient Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy collection, which includes works by Qing master Dong Qichang, Gao Fenghan, Ren Xiong among others. Ren Xiong’s extremely rare Drinking Cards with Illustrations of Daoist Immortals showcases the artist’s mastery over combining ancient tales and striking brushwork to produce zesty caricatures. Finally, Bada Shanren’s Preface to the Orchid Pavilion and Huang Daozhou’s Collection of Poems are also rare works that are not to be missed in this auction!
