Finest and Rarest Wines and Spirits: Featuring Generations of Jayer, Burgundy from the Historic Cellars of King's College, Cambridge
Sale Overview
Christie’s Wine and Spirits department is delighted to present an outstanding selection of the world’s Finest and Rarest Wines and Spirits in our upcoming sale in June. The auction will present a diverse range of property ranging from the most-coveted Grand Cru Burgundies, through to venerable Bordeaux, ancient Madeira and rare Single Malt whiskies.
Of particular note is a collection of rarest Burgundy, direct from the cellars of King’s College, Cambridge. Generations of Jayer is a focused collection of forty five lots of some of the rarest Burgundies ever to be bottled. The wines have superb provenance, having been purchased by the college on release from the UK importer, Richards-Walfords, and thereafter stored in the deep, cool cellars at King’s – these are likely some of the finest examples of these wines a collector can hope to find today. Highlights from the collection include – Georges & Henri Jayer Echezeaux 1999 and Emmanuel Rouget, Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux 2005, both offered in previously unopened original cartons.
Other Burgundy highlights include rare wines from Roumier, Coche-Dury, DRC, Rousseau Leflaive and other top-tier producers, which sit side-by-side with rarities from Bordeaux, the Rhone valley and Italy. In addition to these, Christie’s are thrilled to offer a selection of extraordinary rarities from Terroir al Limit, one of the most exciting estates in Spain today.
Outside of wine, the sale includes a fine selection of single malt Scotch whisky, led by the extremely rare Bowmore 1964 Trilogy, Cognac from Martell & Biscuit-Dubouché, and a unique offering of whisky from Royal Salute to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
We look forward to welcoming clients to Christie’s in June to participate in this extraordinary sale.
