First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online

Sale Overview

We are pleased to present First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online in London this March, featuring a selection of exciting contemporary names alongside post-war masters at accessible price points.

We are delighted to offer property from the collection of the late Michael Abrams, son of the New York art book publisher and collector, Harry N. Abrams. Featuring works by Bob Thompson, Ray Johnson, Claes Oldenburg and Öyvind Fahlström amongst others, the collection is a remarkable insight into Abrams’ approach to collecting, his family’s connection to New York and the dialogues between Britain, Europe and America which formed the basis of Pop art in the 1950s. This presents a unique opportunity to acquire historic works by the artists who were Abrams’ friends and contemporaries.

The sale also includes a selection of works from The Foundation of Mireille and James Lévy, an exceptional collection which is offered across Christie’s New York, Paris and London sales. Contemporary artists to watch include Tschabalala Self, Maria Farrar, Jadé Fadojutimi, Erik Parker and Alex Da Corte.

If you’d like to learn more about a work, our specialists are on hand for consultations and virtual viewing appointments. All of our live auctions are enabled for remote bidding from desktop or mobile app via the Christie’s LIVE™ real-time bidding platform.
