First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online

First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online

Sale Overview

This season, First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online will present an exciting selection of post-war and contemporary art as part of our 20th/21st Century auction series at Christie’s.

We are proud to present a selection of works by exciting female contemporary names such as Jenna Gribbon, Caroline Walker, Aubrey Levinthal, Mequitta Ahuja and Deborah Segun. In addition, we will be offering works by leading artists such as Michael Armitage, Jonas Wood, Billy Childish, Eileen Agar and Tracey Emin.

The sale will also feature a wonderful selection of works by contemporary African artists such as Aboudia, Adjey Tawiah and Wole Lagunju.

For the first time in auction history, a painting by the late Barry Kamen will be presented within First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online. Known as one of the iconic faces of the 1980s Buffalo fashion movement throughout his life, Kamen’s artwork remained in the shadow of his fame. This season, Christie’s will be offering a notable work from the Is Is It series, sold to benefit the Barry Kamen Estate in their mission to archive and preserve his work and legacy.

The sale is open for bidding from 23–9 March. A selection of highlights will be on view at Christie’s King Street from 22 February. To arrange a viewing, please do not hesitate to contact us.
