The Day Sales of the Hubert de Givenchy – Collectionneur will be held both in the Théâtre Marigny (15 June) and in our saleroom at Avenue Matignon (16 and 17 June) over three exciting sessions. We will take you on a tour, room by room, of two of his storied residences, Hôtel d’Orrouer and Le Jonchet, viewing the extraordinary art and objects in situ for a deeper appreciation of Givenchy’s art of living and how he lived with art. 

On 15 and 16 June, property from Hôtel d’Orrouer, Paris will come to auction, while on 17 June, contents once housed in the Manoir du Jonchet, Loire Valley will be offered. Highlights of the Day Sale include works of exceptional quality from the 17th century to the present day, with works by David Roentgen, Adam Weisweiler, Jean-Henri Riesener, Paul Dupré-Lafon, François-Xavier Lalanne, Joan Miro and Piero Dorazio amongst others. The three sessions reflect the wide-ranging and varied interests of a great connoisseur whose collecting spanned artists, objects and materials across centuries, united by their beauty, innovative design, exceptional craftsmanship, and contribution to the canon of art history and decorative arts. 

Our catalogues read like a roll-call of the most iconic furniture makers, artists and designers from the 18th to the 20th century, showcasing this great couturier’s collecting ethos. Hubert de Givenchy was uncompromising in his taste and had a clear vision of what went where and above all, why. Each and every item in this sale is a reflection of his impeccable taste and decorating eye. Discover works by Arnaldo Pomodoro, Hubert Robert, Baron Gerard and Van Loo, mixed with exceptional furnishings from the great cabinet-makers of the 18th century alongside bronze furniture by Diego Giacometti, specially commissioned for Le Jonchet — Hubert de Givenchy’s pride and joy.

Les ventes du jour, qui se dérouleront au Théâtre Marigny (15 juin) et chez Christie’s avenue Matignon (16 et 17 juin), proposent une promenade géographique à travers l’Hôtel d’Orrouer puis au sein du Manoir du Jonchet. Au cours de ces ventes nous disperserons des œuvres exceptionnelles du XVIIème siècle à nos jours. Dans les vacations consacrées à la rue de Grenelle on trouve entre autres un bureau de David Roentgen, une coupe couverte d’Adam Weisweiler, une armoire de Jean-Henri Riesener ou un valet de nuit de Paul Dupré-Lafon, mais aussi un bronze d’Arnaldo Pomodoro, une gouache de Pablo Palazuelo, et un collage de Georges Braque – pour n'en citer que quelques-unes.  Dans la vente du Manoir du Jonchet on pourra acquérir une table d’appoint de Diego Giacometti, une tortue de François-Xavier Lalanne, une eau-forte de Joan Miro, et une huile sur toile de Piero Dorazio, tout comme un tableau de Dirck Wijntrack, un bureau plat dans le goût de Noël Gérard, ou une commode de Godefroy Dester.
