Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Paintings and Prints including Masterworks from the Westervelt Company and Selections from Thomas Molesworth's Ranch A Commission

Sale Overview

Our September sale will offer an outstanding selection of American Furniture, Folk Art and Decorative Arts, spanning from the seventeenth to the twentieth century and featuring property from three major collections.  Selections from the estate of the late Americana collector Eric Martin Wunsch include an iconic and masterful Queen Anne side chair from Philadelphia and an elaborately carved New York card table from the Chippendale period.  Highlights to be offered from the Westervelt Company, perhaps the most significant collection of Classical American pieces ever assembled, span the mediums of furniture, silver, paintings and Audobon prints.  The collection includes a magnificent Federal desk-and-bookcase, embellished with forty-seven verre églomisé glass panels and probably made for the Van Ness family of Washington, D.C.   Embodying the 1930s American Western style, Christie’s is also pleased to offer a group of pieces from the Annenberg Commission by Thomas Molesworth: Property from Ranch A.
