Hong Kong – On Wednesday, May 28, 2014, Christie's Hong Kong Important Watches Spring Auction 2014 achieved HK$172,566,875 / US$22,364,667 and was sold 85% by lot and 88% by value.

Sam Hines, International Co-Head of Watches and Wristwatches Department, said, “This sale represents one of the most diverse selections of watches that we have seen in a while, spread across a wide variety of properties. The demand for rare and great quality timepieces remains and we are also seeing a sustained preference for classics such as Rolex and Cartier since last season. Independent watchmakers such as Greubel Forsey are also gaining favor with collectors. Asian buyers continue to be the driving force within this sale and the broader market, with online participation increasingly active."
