Living with African and Oceanic Arts

Living with African and Oceanic Arts

Sale Overview

Christie’s is pleased to announce its first African and Oceanic arts auction of the year. This second exclusively online sale will take place from the 23rd of February to the 8th of March 2023. Estimates of the works comprised in the sale, which come from different places within the two regions, range from 300€ to 60.000€.

The artworks selected in this sale reflect the variety and the artistic richness of Africa and Oceania by displaying objects which are as much valued for their use as for their symbolic meanings. They underline the creativity of artists from Africa and Oceania, as well as the traditional and aesthetical legacies of the past generations. With nearly a hundred lots, this sale then highlights the multiplicity of forms and meanings of objects which were created, used and transmitted in Africa and Oceania.

The sale gathers works from various private collections, including a very beautiful selection of pieces from Africa which pay tribute to the taste and research of passionate collectors Laure-Marie and Daniel Biebuyck.

We look forward to welcoming you in our Parisian showrooms on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th of March 2023, from 10am to 6pm.
