Living with African and Oceanic Arts

Living with African and Oceanic Arts

Sale Overview

Christie’s is pleased to announce the third edition of the African, Oceanic, Southeast Asian and North American arts online auction, Living with African and Oceanic Arts. This third exclusively online sale will take place from the 18th to the 30th of April 2024.

The artworks selected in this sale reflect the variety and the artistic richness of the four regions by displaying objects which are as much valued for their use as for their symbolic meanings. They underline the creativity of the artists, as well as the traditional and aesthetical legacies of the past generations. With nearly a hundred and fifty lots, this sale then highlights the multiplicity of forms and meanings of objects which were created, used and transmitted in each region.

The sale gathers works from various private collections, including a very beautiful selection of pieces from Africa which pay tribute to the taste of the passionate collectors Line and Hippoliet Verbeemen. We also have the privilege of offering in this auction some examples from important private collections, of equally impressive origins, including from a Princely collection, the collection of Marie-Ange Ciolkowska, the collection of Sam Josefowitz, and the collection of Camu-Beard.

We look forward to welcoming you in our Parisian showrooms from the 26th to the 30th April 2024, from 10am to 6pm.
