Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale

Sale Overview
The Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale on 9 December will offer a broad selection of pictures from the mid-15th to the mid-19th century. It is led by works by Palma Vecchio, Louise Moillon, Guercino and William Hogarth. The sale will offer a notable group of pictures painted in Italy in the 18th century, including an exceptional pair of landscapes by Francesco Zuccarelli, a beautifully preserved head study by the Bolognese master Ubaldo Gandolfi, and a fine copper depicting the a Forum Romanum by Hendrick Frans van Lint.
The golden age of British painting is particularly well represented, with an important supper-box picture by Francis Hayman, a delightful double portrait by George Romney, and a fine view of Florence by Thomas Patch. The sale also features a group of portraits from the Clarendon House collection, led by Sir Peter Lely's sumptuous portrait of Diana Russell, Lady Newport.
