Sale Overview

The October sale of Photographs in New York features over 200 exciting examples of 19th century, modern and contemporary photography by such preeminent artists as Vik Muniz, Irving Penn, Peter Beard and Erwin Blumenfeld.  Highlights include rare and stunning examples from some of the medium’s most respected artists, including Edward Weston and Ansel Adams.  Among these is an exceptionally rare exhibition print of Trolley – New Orleans by Robert Frank, made by the artist himself for his two-person exhibition with Harry Callahan at the Museum of Modern Art in 1961; as well as a beautifully vibrant print of Greenwood, Mississippi, 1973 by William Eggleston, given as a gift to his close friend and fellow artist, Tom Young.  This sale is preceded in the week by the deLIGHTed eye: Modernist Masterworks from a Private Collection.
