Sale Overview

Christie’s Post-War and Contemporary Evening and Day Sales in Amsterdam take place on 25 and 26 November 2019. The Amsterdam sales offer a strong platform for CoBrA, Zero and German art. The sales will feature works from the esteemed Belgian collection, the Matthys-Colle Collection, as well as Art for Future, Selected Works from the UniCredit Group. From the Matthys-Colle Collection 17 works by artists including Karel Appel, Robert Barry, Tony Cragg, Jan Dibbets and Raoul de Keyser will be presented. The selection from Art for Future, Selected Works from the UniCredit Group will offer around 100 pieces, 70 of which are by Austrian artists and 30 of which are by German artists; including works by Franz West, Gerhard Richter, Imi Knoebel and Kiki Kogelnik. Returning to the Westergas, the Evening Sale will be led by Gotthard Graubner’s monumental ‘Kissenbild’, or ‘Cushion Painting’, Untitled (Farbraumkörper Blau). Paintings by Marlene Dumas, Martin Kippenberger and Günther Uecker encapsulate the diverse approaches to visual representation that artists have taken during the last 100 years. The works will be exhibited in Amsterdam from 22 to 25 November 2019.
