Sara Friedlander, Head of Afternoon Sale stated: “With a total of 37.8 million, the Afternoon Session was 85% sold by value. The second portion of the works from the Douglas S. Cramer Collection (lots 401-to 494) led by major works on paper was sold for $8.2million, totaling $26.6 million, combined with the ten lots from the Evening Sale. Very strong prices were achieved for works on paper by Mark Grotjhan, Gerhard Richter, Roy Lichtenstein, Elizabeth Peyton, Edward Ruscha, and Frank Stella. Four exceptional works of art that were made for the sale BKLYN: A Celebration of the Brooklyn Museum and signed by Fred Tomaselli, Takashi Murakami, Mickalene Thomas, and Gilbert & George realized $754.000; these proceeds will benefit the artistic activities of the Brooklyn Museum.”
