The Swiss Art auction realized over SFR. 8.5 million and achieved 5 new world auction records. The top lot was Le Corbusier’s Femme (3éme recherché), 1962 which realized SFr.3,120,000, a world record for the artist at auction.

Hans-Peter Keller – Head of Sale and Director Swiss Art commented: “Tonight’s sale revived the Swiss art market with international interest in a large group of works and buying from 4 continents, including a strong internet presence. We are particular overwhelmed by the new world auction record for Le Corbusier, selling one of his very few sculptures for more than 5 times its mid-estimate.  Further new world auction records were established for David Weiss (1946-2012) and Hans Berger (1882-1977), Hans Rudolf Giger (1940-2014) and Daniel Spoerri (1963-1979). The sale also offered the last part of the Maximilian Schell Estate, which was led by the unique view out of Varlin’s studio in Bondo, entitled Winter in Bondo above its high estimate. The 150th anniversary of Felix Vallotton can be celebrated with 6 out of 6 works sold. Christie’s Zurich is looking forward to its next Swiss Art sale, which will take place on 7th of December 2015.”
