The Ann and Gordon Getty Collection: Early Modern Design from Temple of Wings

Sale Overview

Color is to the eye what music is to the ear. – Louis Comfort Tiffany

From 31 May to 15 June, Christie’s is pleased to present The Ann and Gordon Getty Collection: Early Modern Design from Temple of Wings featuring a selection of works of art by Tiffany, and other important 20th century glass, furniture, decorative arts and textiles.

This online sale builds upon the elevation of the decorative arts in the 19th century, and the reformation of design with its focus on craftsmanship that led to more avant-garde exploration of materials and techniques in the 20th century. The sale is led by the impressive and colorful collection of Tiffany Studios glass and lighting, and complemented by contemporary glass designers like Émile Gallé, Muller Frères, Daum, Loetz and Lalique. Other masterpieces of 20th century design include furniture and rugs by Arts and Crafts designers such as Charles Annesley Voysey, the Dun Emer guild and Charles Rohlfs, as well as sumptuous textiles by Fortuny and Silver Studios.

Proceeds will benefit selected arts and science organizations designed by Ann and Gordon Getty.
