The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale
Sale Overview
The 21st edition of The Art of the Surreal at Christie’s will directly follow the 20th/21st Century: Shanghai Evening Sale on 1 March. Leading this sale is Pablo Picasso’s surrealist masterpiece La fenêtre ouverte (1929) — to be offered at auction for the first time — and René Magritte’s La lumière du pôle (1926–27). Several works by Magritte are also presented, spanning his oeuvre, with estimates ranging from £400,000 to £5,500,000. Additional highlights include Paul Delvaux’s Le soir tombe (1970), alongside works by Salvador Dalí, Óscar Domínguez, Yves Tanguy, Joan Miró and Max Ernst.
Explore the exhibition in person at Christie’s London from 23–28 February.
