The Collection of A. Jerrold Perenchio | Chartwell: An Henri Samuel Commission
Sale Overview
Christie’s New York is honored to present The Collection of A. Jerrold Perenchio, offering works of art from one of America’s most beautiful homes in the hills of Bel Air.
Created by architect Sumner Spaulding in 1935, Chartwell, as the magnificent mansion is known today, was the ultimate nod to 18th century France. In the winter of 1986, the estate was purchased by its third owner in history, Mr. Perenchio, who oversaw an epic five-year renovation led by the renowned French interior designer Henri Samuel.
Chartwell: An Henri Samuel Commission explores the interiors of main rooms of the magnificent estate. This auction features European fine furniture and decorative objects, Chinese works of art, porcelain, silver, 19th century sculpture, prints, photographs, impressionist and modern art, contemporary art, 20th century design and carpets.
