This November, Christie’s Decorative Arts department presents Un hôtel particulier à Genève. Architecture et Décor par François-Joseph Graf a historically significant auction of Furniture, ormolu, porcelain, silver and sculpture. Headlining the sale is a Regence commode by Charles Cressent, circa 1725-1735 with additional hightlights including a pair of late Louis XV ormolu wall-lights in the manner of Delafosse, circa 1760-1770, probably from comte Demidoff, and ‘L’Eternelle idole’ esquisse by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), bronze, alongside esteemed works from renowned private collections including the Rothschild collections at Mentmore Towers, the imperial Palace of Pavlosk, Saint-Pétersbourg and the French decorator Madeleine Castaing.
