Questo dipinto di grande dimensione appartiene a una delle serie più ricercate e innovative di Castellani.
Negli anni Sessanta l'artista produce alcune rarissime opere in cui utilizza (oltre alle caratteristiche linee di chiodi che producono introflessioni ed estroflessioni) sagome che modificano il tradizionale formato rettangolare oppure proiettano violentemente la tela in avanti, nella terza dimensione.
Il vigore plastico di quest'opera essenziale e potente ulteriormente accentuato dall'uso del colore rosso, che la trasforma in un inconfondibile riferimento iconico.
